On
July 1, 2012, I was contacted via email by a representative of professionalsoldiers.com,
an online community for Army Special Forces.
I was informed that Ken Aden’s former platoon leader had issued a letter
to their website retracting the Aden character reference letter that the Aden
campaign had previously released. He states
that he had been misled into believing Aden was Special Forces qualified and he
subsequently apologized to the website for writing the initial letter supporting
Aden.
Because the platoon leader’s letter is referenced in yesterday’s
interview, I felt it only proper that the platoon leader’s additional comments are
also known and that I acknowledge them here. I have commented on more than one website and
message board about this “Aden Special Forces-Gate.” Each time I have insisted that
the interview was conducted in order to allow the voters to hear both sides of
the controversy without all the shouting and name calling. Shedding light on the additional comments
made by former supporters turned detractors is part of ensuring both sides are
heard in that manner.
The additional comments are rather lengthy so I will not
repost them here. Instead, I will give
you a link so that you can see them as they were posted. The posts can be found at http://www.professionalsoldiers.com/forums/showthread.php?p=456559#post456559.
The
screen name the comments are posted under is dirtdart509 under the heading “apology.”
